Daniel and I ran our first 5K race this morning! This is a huge deal for us, as neither one of us have ever considered ourselves runners. Our only motivation to even begin running is personal health. During our training, we have also really enjoyed kicking it up a notch with all the fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and tons of water.
Our time was 28 minutes, 9 seconds...a 9 minute mile. I made sixth place in my age group. This is seriously amazing for me.
But the most amazing part of all is this: I gave up a huge all night, outdoor Latin DANCE Salsa Fest downtown the night before so I could get a good night's sleep for my 5KRUN early this morning. I stopped dead in my tracks when I realized that. What have I become?! I pray it's temporary.
We're celebrating our triumph by making homemade chocolate chip cookies, and watching the firecrackers on our roof.

Yahoo! WOWSERS! That's so awesome! I'm so jealous...I want a 5k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a great way to celebrate your freedom, the freedom of health is one of the greatest.
I miss you!
Good girl for posting ASAP - let's all post a heckuvalot, and be together more okay?
Hey, I've been looking for those shorts.
That reminds me of the time I stayed up til 1am dancing, then got up at 4am and climbed Mt. Hood. I kept thinking what an idiot I was to keep dancing, but I was having soooo much fun I couldn't stop. Anyway, lucky for me sleep deprivation tends to kick in to my body two days later, and I did Mt. Hood fine. Of course, those were in my younger, more spry years. Now I couldn't run 5K if I slept for a week in advance. Congats on placing 6th! That's pretty sweet.
Tough break, anonymous, but the shorts look much better on her. If you want cheerleader shorts badly enough, you'll have to catch her but I must warn you, she runs a 9 minute mile.
I'm SOOO proud of you!!!
