The Finale!

Last night I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror. "You?" I pointed, "You were the finale for the whole six hour University of Montana International Culture Show and Food Fest?

"You think you can just waltz into this town, not even eight months ago...you think you can choreograph two Indian dances that you've seen only in bollywood films, put costumes together from who knows where, conduct weekly rehearsals in a dirty classroom, borrow music from that same bollywood film, and then step onto a stage in a large ballroom... as the FINALE for a huge annual event where thousands of people pay MONEY to see YOU dance?!

You've never even taken a choreography class! You aren't even in the dance program at this university! You've taken one bellydance class in your life, and that was just two months ago! Not even your bellydance teacher was the finale... and she's a trained professional and performer! And by the way, your dancers had never even danced before! They just wanted to, and decided just to challenge themselves to do it... and you think that's good enough? YOU all were the finale?! The director of the fest allowed that?!

The president of the University was there, watching YOU. The whole Indian community was there, to see YOU, and make sure you represented their country correctly. Who do you think you are?! YOU THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS!?

Yep. And watch out. On Saturday night, March 25th, I'm performing a latin dance with Travis at a banquet... for the governor of Montana.

(psst... go do what you want to do... you might just get away with it.)

I want to live
where soul meets body
And let the sun
wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin
in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel
what its like to be new

Oh, you beautiful you! I pulled up your blog a couple of days ago and saw this post and was so ecstatic for you. I didn't have time to read it or comment that day, so it's been up on my computer screen for three days to remind me, and I think of you and love you. (and I got your voicemail. I'm so stoked for you! must talk!).

Anyway. Of course you can. You are amazing. What an opportunity!

I can't believe you're dancing for the governor. Sheesh!
