Ah...HA! I finally figured it out. Why do I spend so much time and contemplative analysis on girl's names and boy's names, when I have no desire to have children anytime soon?
The mystery was solved today around 1:16 p.m.
I'm a writer! How embarrassing that I didn't figure this out before. I was sitting in my creative writing group at work reviewing the newest characters of my currently-being-written novel. I wrinkled my nose at one of my character's names. "Don't like it, doesn't fit him." I then realized that I don't even know "him" yet because he hasn't been born yet. I am creating him! He needs a name to provide his life the evolution process from chaos to sense in a span of 200-400 pages, a name to stand the conflict he'll endure in that short life time, and a name to accompany him on the last page when this older but wiser man is silenced forever. By me, and the words "the end".
So I'm continually listening to you. You tell me your friend's names, your children's names, your grandparents' names...and I'm listening and waiting for opportunities to steal a good character name from you.
It feels good to figure this out! I was beginning to wonder if I was baby hungry. I can safely say that I'm very much not, but you wouldn't know that by the list of girl's and boy's names I have in random journals over the years.
Phew.
What are a few interesting names you've heard lately?

I have had the pleasure of nannying for two of the most magical kids in my day, both inspired me daily and have interesting names. Ready?
The boy-- Julian Alexander. Known as Lex most of the time, but will grow into the Julian with time.
The girl--Sojourn Elizabeth. Known as Soje by her dad and brother and Lizzie by her mama. This girl is a wood sprite who's come to play with the mortals for awhile.
There! You like?
Thank you! I love it!
I just met an "Ericson" who had a baby last Friday that he named "Emerson." My favorite student's name is Maricruz, and her friend's name is Veronica. (Spanish pronunciation: ver-ohn-EE-kah)
Not so fast here Potter! I'm in the same business, see...so ah, I'm keeping mum!
I've lately become fond of naming a child "Marley". Time will tell if it passes.
Amalia, Love, Kateari, Skyler, Awna
Veto Marley.
Em, write Marley into a book, and make him really Anne-Geddes sweet, so James won't want that name. Apparently some guy writing a book about his dog Marley wasn't enough.
A character that really really enjoys pastries might have the name Doug H Nuts.
Aida. Grandma's name and I've grown to really like it.
