Hey Everyone.
So I woke up this morning from another dream. Phew. Ok, first of all...it's up to you if you want to take dreams seriously or not. I totally get it if you don't. Just for a brief background, I told God about two years ago that I've decided to take my dreams more seriously, so if He/She wanted to talk to me that way too, I'd listen.
This time I'll just tell you the message of the dream...
Now that you know how to get prepared, it'd be a good idea to tell others to prepare. The dream was about YOU telling your people to get ready. You're probably already doing it. Yay for you!
The reason is that in an emergency, people can get ugly. We get in survival mode and niceties go out the window. You have enough food and water, etc. now for you and your family, but if others aren't prepared, they'll come after yours.
SO MANY OTHERS are having dreams and "feelings" and such right now. I was up last night unti 3:00 a.m. talking with people about this. Friends of friends of friends are all having these same inclinations. It feels nice to tap into this community of people so I don't feel like a doomsday prophetess alone. Here's a highlight from last night's conversation:
My friend Monica just told me that she has been going door to door asking her neighbors what they can commit to doing in their preparation in the next two weeks. Monica told me about one guy who was completely bugged that she dared to knock while CSI was on. She just kept talking at him. Finally he said,
"Ok, so what do I need to do?"
"Can you commit," she said, "to getting even one gallon of water and one case of your family's favorite food?"
He thought about it and answered,
"Well, we really like spaghetti."
"Great!" she smiled, "Would it be alright with you if I came back in two weeks to see if you have a case of spaghetti and spaghetti sauce?" She took out her notebook pad, wrote down his name and his committment and promised that she'll be back.
At this point, the CSI guy was into it.
"Next week?! No way, I'm doing this tomorrow."
Her motivation is that SHE is incredibly prepared, and she lives in a community where people have a lot of guns. So the last thing she wants is a bunch of starving children on her block, and parents coming to her house with a gun in their hand. She's hoping that she can build community where everyone has a big potluck sort of attitude. She's going out again this week. She starts her conversation on their porch saying,
"Hi, I'm your neighbor and everyone in our neighborhood is on board with this, so..." Smart girl, eh? She's my girl!
So do what you want with this information...wouldn't it be amazing if a huge "something" happened, and no one had to panic because everyone was prepared? No thirsty or starving people... just a bunch of kindness to go with that dry pack potato and lentil soup dinner.
I have some other stuff to tell you too, especially with the economy drastically changing and the dollar slowly losing its value...but I'll wait until another post.

are you freaking out?!!! i've been thinking of you!
and i've been thinking about how the prophet has been saying "get out of debt" for YEARS! and now, look!
(have i mentioned that already?)
yay for preparedness!
Totally!
And no, I'm not freaking out. I kind of wanted to because that's an addictive swirling energy to get into. It's Doomsday!! AHH! Everybody run! (There's a bit of fun in chaos and drama.)
But in fact, it's possible that nothing will actually happen at all. But why not have a couple of candles and matches in the same place, just in case.
So I had a dream the other day and I wanted to share with you. In my dream I was driving the van on the freeway with the kids in the car. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Well as I was driving I realized that the sky was a beautiful shade of blue, the sun was bright , and there were some killer clouds in the sky.
Suddenly cars began to pull over and traffic just plain stopped. I got out of my van and the kids stayed in their seats.
As I looked up I saw the Savior descending from the clouds. T
This is the part that bothered me. I ran and hid. I didn't meet my Savior...I was ashamed and hid.
So I am really working at making sure that I am puling myself together is all facets of my life.
Thank you for sharing it is a great reminder of the things we need to be doing.
Dreams can seem very salient, especially in times of stress and concern. I have had doomsday dreams since I was a boy growing up in the nuke-scared 7o's. I still have one once in a while... Duck and COVER!
I tried to find an explanation of doomsday dreams on a dream interpretation website: Here's one for you Emily.
Doomsday Dreams:
"To a young woman, this dream encourages her to throw aside the attention of men above her in station and accept the love of an honest and deserving man near her."
Hmmm. I don't really see the connection, but who knows, right?
Speaking of salience and dreams, we tend to forget all but the most emotionally charged dreams. They are usually a result of anxiety or wish-fulfillment, and the dreams that come just before we awaken are the ones we are most likely to remember. Prophetic dreams are not unusual, and there are many historical accounts of doomsday dreams that go back to the beginning of recorded history.
I'm not saying we shouldn't be prepared for something bad to happen, I'm just saying that the fable of Chicken Little speaks to a part of our human nature that has always existed.
It is our human nature to focus on impending disaster rather than the solution to avoiding a disaster. Many times in history, the fear of disaster is what actually creates the disaster (ex. Great Depression).
I'm skeptical of apocalytic anything, but I'm also a former Boy Scout and never fault anyone for being prepared!
Thank you so much for sharing Julie.
And Paul, I'm right there with you. The last thing I want is a following. I guess that's what I meant when I said that people can do or not do anything they want with this information. Because regardless of how people hear about it, it's still good to be prepared for an emergency.
oh... and the interpretation of the dream being the men in my life... I am open to that as an interpretation. Why not? I suppose I would just need to trust that the message would sound more true to me than it does. Ironic, though, because accepting love from people just isn't a problem I've ever faced in my lifetime.
Just to clarify, I didn't feel like the dream interpretation applied to you at all, I just thought it was humorous that there was a special interpretation directed at young women. The other interpretation provided wasn't addressed to anyone in particular and was a warning that our friends were actually more interested in our wealth than the sentimentality of our friendships. ??? Right?
Okay, seriously, just to reiterate a comment I left on the other post...
Just four months ago in Iowa (where I live) there was mass flooding and many cities had their water turned off for two weeks because the city couldn't handle people flushing their toilets. This completely threw people for a loop and everyone panicked and went to buy water...but the stores didn't even have enough bottled water for one percent of the city. (This may not seem like much of a crisis to those of you who did not experience it. But let me tell ya, when you've got a baby who only drinks formula and you are told that the city's water will be turned off in two hours and you drive to the store to stock up and you find that the stores have run out of water and you suddenly realize that you will have no way to reconstitute that formula for two whole weeks, you get pretty darn panicky! I'm telling you, it was a real crisis here!)
The moral of the story? If everyone had previously stored several gallons of water in their basement (or wherever), then they wouldn't have been so devastated by the two-week shut down.
It doesn't take an apocalyptic end-of-the-world catastrophy for these things to come in handy.
These things happen...natural disasters, job loss. We're not just talking about the end of days here. (So if an emotionally-charged dream motivates you to get prepared, then why not run with it?)
