The Orange Tree Gig

This was a first for me and for Lumina. Our own gig, for an hour and a half, playing our own songs (and Lumina played some cover songs). Oh yeah, and all in Korea.

The "set list". We used to watch Skye make her set list when we lived with her. Lumina and I felt so cool doing it ourselves now. :)

Lumina played songs that she has been practicing with her guitar/singing teacher, Rock DJ.

This was our crowd! Even my parents came, and actually stayed way past their bedtime.

This was a highlight for me. My new friend Namjin (right) translated through Tru that he was too scared to sing that night as he intended.

"But I will," he smiled, "because Emily asked me to, and so yes, I'll do it for her..."

My heart melted. My dad recorded me on my video camera, smiling and staring at Namjin through the whole song. "Starry starry night..." in a Korean accent became the most beautiful sound in the world.

The whole night was so fun. Afterward we went salsa dancing with a group of six until 3:30 a.m.

Wow...I'm definitely doing this night again.

Namaste Emily! I'm Eduard from Spain. I'm so happy to have found your blog. I was searching for "shanti bhavan" in the internet. I volunteered there 1 year ago (from nov'05 to feb'06). It's great to know the stories of other volunteers. I've enjoyed your photos and comments. I'm missing so much Shanti Bhavan and India, I hope I'll be able to return there in a near future. Please feel free to write me (eduardm@gmail.com), we can exchange out impressions and some photos ;)
Nice blog!
Eduard.
